Shuntong [Anivia] Deng is a soprano from Foshan, Guangdong. She was a choral scholar in the professional 18-voice choir at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York, where she also sang with the Cathedral Chorale. Anivia will begin an MA in Music Performance: Vocal Studies at the University of York in September 2026.
Anivia graduated with highest honors in History of Art and Design from Pratt Institute in May 2026. Whilst in New York, she studied classical singing with Giovanna Yaqi Yang. In addition, Anivia has performed with Saint Andrew Chorale at Metropolitan Avenue Presbyterian Church and with Central City Chorus, where she served as a soloist and as program editor. She has also sung with the Metropolitan Chorale Project's Festival Chorus for Duruflé's Requiem at Carnegie Hall and participated in the world premiere of Jonathan Dove's Search for Spring at Lincoln Center. In China, Anivia has sung with the Guangzhou Baroque Orchestra and its affiliated choir in excerpts from Handel's Messiah.
Outside of her singing, Anivia is a book artist and publication designer.
